Care that empowers

Atlas Acupuncture was founded by Montana Burns in 2014. Over the years, she has strived to provide comprehensive acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and nutritional care to the greater Burlington area. She typically treats both acute and chronic pain, anxiety, digestive complaints, and women’s health issues. Montana feels incredibly connected to Burlington and to the family of patients here. By integrating ancient wisdom with modern knowledge, Montana aims to provide lasting care that empowers her patients, creates room for self-discovery, and supports the cultivation of their individual health and well-being.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) services for routine health care are offered to patients of any age. TCM is a great modality for problems such as stress relief, pain relief, digestive upset, and women’s health. Montana tailors specific care plans to match the patient’s needs, offering an array of options, and helping each patient decide what is best for them. Please see more detailed information below about our specific services.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a safe and effective way to ease yourself into a healthier state. It is one of the oldest therapies known to the healing arts. Eastern medicine helps to initiate the body’s own healing response and is able to address a vast range of symptoms and conditions. Using ancient Chinese understanding of the body’s energy (also known as qi) and modern understanding of the effect of acupuncture on connective tissue, hair-thin, sterile needles, moxibustion (heat therapy), and other methods are used to promote balance and healing.

Treatments are always tailored to the needs of the individual patient. Acupuncture is actually quite relaxing. Patients leave feeling nourished and rejuvenated.

Herbal Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine is strongly rooted in the healing properties of various herbs. A specific herbal formula might include anywhere from three to thirty different ingredients such as roots, bark, twigs, dried leaves, seeds, and flowers. There are a few different approaches to prescribing. Herbs can be taken in pill form, powdered form, or raw. The raw herbs are steeped in hot water like tea for approximately one hour, whereas the powdered herbs are just mixed with warm water and then consumed.

Herbs are a very cost-effective way to prolong your treatments. They are not meant to be taken long-term, but only as needed. Formulas are designed with the same intention as your acupuncture treatment.

Nutritional Counseling

Food is medicine.

To support your health we should recognize nutrition as the first vital step on our path to cultivating a healthy lifestyle. As an Eastern healthcare professional, the first advice I will offer is to encourage healthy eating habits. From there, not only can we elevate your overall health with acupuncture and herbs, but also we can ameliorate or resolve many chronic issues with diet alone.

Learn about what healthy food looks like for you. Find recipes you enjoy. Eat local.

Cooking at home can be a wonderful opportunity to improve everyone’s health!
